Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the ranchers you work with?
We source all of our meats from hand selected family farmers. Each of our farms adheres to the highest standards of animal welfare. This includes raising the animals free from confinement: Cleaver’s products are all from animals humanely raised in a free-range environment and meet all Australian Certified Organic meats requirements.
What other certifications do your products hold?
Cleaver’s also carries the Non-GMO Project Verified (NGPV) label. The NGPV certification is stricter than the USDA rule for the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard (NBFDS), ensuring the foods you buy and consume are non-GMO and safe for your family.
What do you feed Cleaver’s Organic cattle?
Our cattle are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Our cattle feed on native forage rations – never grain.
What’s the difference between grass-fed beef and grain-fed beef?
Grass-fed animals have meat that is lower in total fat, and also has more omega-3 fatty acids than meat from grain-fed animals.
Are Australian grass-fed beef requirements different from the American rules?
Yes. U.S. beef can be called grass-fed even if the cattle are “finished” on grain. We guarantee our animals are raised and finished only on grass and foliage.
What are the health benefits of grass-fed, organic beef?
Studies have shown that grass-fed, organic animals produce meat that is:
- Lower in total fat
- Higher in beta-carotene and total Omega-3s
- Higher in CLA (CIS-9 Trans-11)
- Higher in the Minerals Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium
- Higher in the B-Vitamins Thiamin and Riboflavin
Are your cattle raised in a humane manner?
Yes! We verify and guarantee that all our cattle are humanely raised on environmentally sustainable ranches.
